Richard Yap said this about his network transfer
Actor Richard Yap admitted that he chose a more stable network when he decided to transfer to GMA from ABS-CBN.
Richard was known in the entertainment industry as one of the leading men of the Kapamilya network who also played father roles. His charm and talent paved his way to success even though he started his acting career later than most of the actors now.
His appearance on the Kapuso noontime show Eat Bulaga for its Bawal Judgmental segment back in July 2020 created network switch speculations.
Later on, it was revealed that Richard Yap already signed a contract under GMA Network. When asked about his decision to transfer, based on the article from PEP, the actor directly said that he just did a practical move.
“GMA has been there for a long time, and they’ve been doing a lot of shows for a long time. Of course, I will choose a more stable network,” he said.
Richard added that is the main reason why he chose to be a Kapuso. He also revealed in an interview that he also received an offer from TV5 as well as from ABS-CBN.
“But I think, going to GMA-7 was the easiest choice. The others were just starting out, the others were doing blocktime, while GMA is doing everything by itself,” the actor explained.
With this, he accepted the offer from the network that is established and other networks may have a difficult time to go against GMA. He also expressed excitement about the upcoming projects being laid out by the Kapuso network for him.
