FDA Responds To PSG, AFP Getting Vaccinations For COVID-19

JUST IN: FDA RESPONDS TO PSG, AFP VACCINATIONS – Recently, it was revealed that several members of the PSG and AFP were already vaccinated for COVID-19 despite the vaccine not going through the Food and Drug Administration.

According to Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, there was nothing wrong with giving these personnel vaccines. Furthermore, he emphasized that what’s not legal is buying and selling of these vaccines.

However, Usec. Eric Domingo, the director-general of the FDA expressed his dismay upon hearing the news. According to a report from GMA, Domingo said:

Nakakalungkot kapag nalaman mong ganitong nagtatrabaho ka tapos may ganitong mangyayari… Paano kung may nakakalabas din nito taps na ibenta… It makes you wonder, mukhang may nakakapasok na bakuna na hindi natin alam if they are handled properly, na if they are gotten from the correct source.

Previously, President Rodrigo Duterte had expressed that he would give vaccine priority to the military and police since they would handle vaccine distribution.

Currently, the Philippines is eyeing to procure China’s vaccine candidate from Sinopharm and Sinovac in the first quarter of 2021. However, studies have shown that Sinovac only had a 50% efficacy rate against COVID-19. Moreover, it was also more expensive than leading vaccines such as Pfizer.
