Three Suspects, One Troop Guide Killed In Clash In South Cotabato
SOUTH COTABATO – Three suspects were killed in an encounter with security forces in Polomolok, South Cotabato, the military said.
Western Mindanao Command (WestMinCom) chief Lieutenant General Corleto Vinluan Jr. said that operatives from the 5th Special Forces Battalion and Polomolok Municipal Police Station were about to serve a warrant of arrest against Tho Catucan in Purok 1, Baragan Sumbakil, according to GMA News.
Catucan was about to be arrested for a murder case when he, as well as his cohorts, opened fire against the policemen.
The encounter ended in the injury of the three suspects, with the other two identified as Jer Maguisulan and Rabino Kutin. They were taken to Polomolok Municipal Hospital but were declared dead on arrival.
Commanding officer of the 5th Special Forces Battalion Lieutenant Colonel Randy Banaag said that the guide of the operating troops was also killed in the encounter. Another guide was wounded but is already in stable condition.
Retrieved from the troops were one caliber .45 pistol and one 9MM UZI sub-machine pistol from the encounter site. The military expressed condolences to the family of the slain guide, according to the report.
“On behalf of the operating troops, I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to the family and relatives of the killed guide. I, likewise, commend his bravery and heroic deed,”
