PAGASA

The weather update from the state bureau says that Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 was raised over Kalayaan Islands in Palawan as Tropical Storm Vicky (Internationally named Krovanh) traverses the West Philippine Sea.

Kalayaan Islands will face 30-60 kilometers per hour winds and moderate to heavy rains.

According to GMA News, the bureau said that strong breeze to near gale conditions with occasional gusts of gale-force winds will prevail due to Vicky and the surge of the Northern Monsoon or Amihan.

Batanes, Babuyan Islands, and the northern portions of Cagayan, Apayao, and Ilocos Norte will face strong to gale-force winds.

The eastern portions of mainland Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Quezon, and Palawan including Calamian Islands will dace occasional gusty conditions.

Based on the report, the eastern portion of mainland Cagayan Valley, Aurora and the northern portion of Quezon will face moderate to heavy rains.

The rest of mainland Cagayan Valley, Babuyan Islands, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Camarines Norte and the rest of Quezon will face light to moderate with occasionally heavy rains.

The bureau warned of flooding, including flash floods and landslides during heavy or prolonged periods of rainfall, especially in areas that are prone to these hazards.

Floods may also occur in adjacent or nearby areas due to the swelling of river channels.

As of 4 AM, Vicky was last spotted at 175 kilometers south southwest of Kalayaan Islands, which is already outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

It was packed with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 80 kilometers per hour. It is expected to head more westward.
