Vhong Navarro has these thoughts on MMFF 2020
Comedian-host Vhong Navarro said that he has no “kaba” that Vice Ganda, Vic Sotto, and Coco Martin do not have an entry in the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2020.
For this year’s annual film festival, the organizers were forced to do the digital edition due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Theaters and cinemas are not yet allowed to operate. This is something that the movie industry has to face amid the crisis.
This year, the movie of Vhong, Mang Kepweng: Ang Lihim ng Bandanang Itim, is one of the official entries. In line with this, the It’s Showtime host admitted that he felt less “kaba” because three of the most popular actors during this season has no entries for the film fest.
In previous years, the movies of Vice Ganda, Vic Sotto, and Coco Martin topped the blockbuster earnings. Based on the article from Pilipino Star Ngayon, Vice’s movie was originally part of this year’s film fest but he backed out.
“Siyempre ‘yung totoo nabawasan ‘yung kaba ko, konti. Kasi siyempre iba ‘yung Vice, iba ‘yung Bossing, iba ‘yung Coco eh. ‘Di ba kapag filmfest, every year ‘yan, makikita mo sila, talagang banggaan ‘yan sa takilya,” Vhong Navarro said.
Meanwhile, he is a bit saddened that the MMFF 2020 has to observe also the new normal. The film fest goes digital in order to assure everyone’s safety who wants to watch.
“Pero enjoy-in na lang natin dito kung paano tayo papasok sa makabagong paraan at kung paano mae-enjoy pa rin ng tao na para silang nanonood sa totoong sinehan,” Vhong Navarro said.
