Cebu Resort Under Probe After Autism Discrimination Remarks Drew Flak

DOT to Conduct Investigation to Cebu Resort Over Autism Discrimination Remarks

A luxury resort in Cebu is subjected to investigation after being slammed online for discriminating against a young boy with autism.

Recently, Mai Pages, a mother of a child with special needs lamented that she and her child wasn’t welcomed in the Plantation Bay Resort and Spa. This because of a heartless response of the resort’s management discriminating the young boy’s condition.

May added a review about the resort on Trip Advisor, saying the Plantation bay was not a place for children with special needs. She said she was told to keep her son Fin from “squealing” with joy while in the pool.

In a deleted comment on Trip Advisor, Manny Gonzalez replied to Mai and accused her of “most likely deliberately lying” since “uncontrolled shouting is not a symptom of autism.” He went as far as to question the child’s diagnosis.

“Google ‘Autism’ and verify this for yourself,” read the reply. “Therefore this parent is most likely deliberately lying, or has been given an incorrect diagnosis of autism when what the child more likely has is a lack of discipline due to simple parental neglect.”
