Authorities Arrested 2 ‘Basag-Kotse’ Members After They Visit Cavite to Find Victim
Authorities nabbed two (2) ‘basag-kotse’ members Tuesday night, after they visit Cavite area to find a new victim of their modus.
Two men from Tondo, Manila whose modus is to broke a car to steal valuable items inside went to Silang, Cavite to look for their victim. Although they succeeded in their mission, they were captured by the police.
According to a report by John Consulta on GMA News, CCTV footage shows a man peeking inside a parked pick-up truck. Shortly afterward, the suspect broke the glass on the right side of the vehicle and took the bag and laptop inside.
After that, the culprit quickly fled on a motorcycle. Not far from the pick-up truck, the group also victimized another parked car. They got a bag with a wallet and money.

The victims reported the incident to the authorities. The police then immediately conducted a follow-up operation, the suspects were caught with the help of CCTV footage.
The suspects who confessed to the crime were identified as Carlo Pantaleon and Jeffrey Momongon, both tricycle drivers in Tondo, Manila. They recounted their modus operandi from peeking into the car to breaking the glass to get the items inside.
Pantaleon, on the other hand, argued that his need for money was the reason so he committed the crime. He said his wife was pregnant and it was his mother’s birthday.
The authorities have recovered all the stolen items stolen from the two vehicles that they smashed the glass. Authorities are now in search of their other colleagues. Authorities warn the public not to leave expensive items in the vehicle.
