COVID-19 Vaccine Almost Here – US Firms Gear Up For Imminent Distribution
COVID-19 VACCINE ALMOST HERE – As 2021 approaches, it seems like a new dawn is rising with the imminent arrival of the new coronavirus vaccine.
Currently, Pfizer and BioNTech are the first companies who had their vaccine candidate approved. Furthermore, the vaccine is set to be distributed in the UK soon.
Meanwhile, US firms are gearing up to comply with the distribution requirements for the vaccines. Due to the large scale of demand across the country, a massive logistical effort is required to help aid the distribution.
According to an article from GMA, the COVID-19 vaccines need to be stored at ultra-low temperatures. As such, companies such as Ford ordered their own freezers to help out. Additionally, meat processing giant Smithfield said its gold rooms at its abattoirs can be utilized anytime.
“We have assessed our ultra-low freezer capabilities and capacity and are ready and willing to assist health agencies if storage capacity becomes constrained“, said Smithfields chief administrative director, Keira Lombardo.
Moreover, US refrigerator manufacturers such as So-low reported receiving a large spike in orders of freezers that can maintain temperatures lower than -120 Fahrenheit.
