Tuburan Residents in Cebu Evacuate as Floodwaters Continue to Rise
Tuburan Residents in Cebu are now seeking help as floodwaters continue to rise due to incessant rains in the area.
On Wednesday (December 2, 2020), Tuburan Vice Mayor Aljun Diamante said that the disaster and rescue personnel as well as military personnel have been deployed to Tuburan town, northwestern Cebu.
The team would conduct rescue operation and to assist the evacuation in the flood affected areas. The flooding has already affected at least 11 barangay in the town of Tuburan, a second-class municipality in Cebu City.
Barangays Colonia, Fortaliza, Jagbuaya, Manga, 8 (Otso), Caridad, Marmol, Mag-atubang, Mag-alwa, Mag-antoy, and Amatugan are now submerged in floodwaters, according to Diamante.
Diamante also said that most flood-affected barangays are low-lying areas. Local government unit is currently monitoring the situation in the area. Some families have already evacuated as floodwaters reached the second floor of houses in some areas.
“As of this moment, we are still monitoring the situation. We also received information that several families have been evacuated already,” Diamante said.
