Trans Beauty Queen Calls for Disqualification of MMFF Entry “Pakboys Takusa’
Miss Trans Global beauty queen Mela Franco Habijan slammed the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry “Pakboys Takusa” for making fun of transgenders in the film.
On Twitter, Habijan called out the movie director Al Tantay, Viva Films, and cast members who allegedly ridicule the transgenders in of the scenes of the MMFF 2020 entry film “Pakboys Takusa,” which starred the all-time ‘chick boys’ in movies.
The transgender woman vowed to end toxic masculinity in the local movie industry, based on her post. She said that she was insulted by the scene in the trailer of the movie.
“I just saw the trailer of your movie. Honestly, basing on the title, I already had an idea of what it would be about — toxic masculinity,” she wrote.
In the movie trailer, a transgender with Dennis Padilla was in the comfort room after having a great time. Dennis was shocked after his “babe,” which he thought to be a woman, pee like a man.

She stressed that it is annoying because you make our urination a joke again. It is also insulting because they are making fun of trans’ body and being trans women.
“Nakakapanliit kasi ginagawa niyo na namang katatawanan ang pag-ihi namin! Nakakainsulto kasi ginagawa ninyong katatawanan ang katawan namin. Nakakagalit dahil pinagtarawanan ninyo ang pagiging trans woman namin.”
“Ano ang nakakatawa sa ipinanganak na may txxx pero ang isip at puso ay babae? Sa nakatayong umiihi? Sa pakikipagtalik sa trans woman,” she added.
She slammed the director over its film’s tastes, “I pity you, because as the world has evolved, you are still stuck in your discriminatory, slapstick, LGBTQIA-phobic comedy.”
The trans beauty queen also calls for disqualification of the movie due to gender sensitivity and gender inclusivity. She added that the transphobic scene will be giving a negative message to the audience.
“PS. I hope the MMFF upholds its criteria on gender sensitivity and gender inclusivity. Given the transphobic scene, they will be sending a wrong message to the audience about us. Thus, this film must be disqualified from the festival,” she said.
Habijan was crowned Miss Trans Global 2020 during a virtual pageant held last Sept. 12 Habijan is a communication graduate of Ateneo de Manila University in 2008 (cum laude).
