Tangon River Overflows, 30 Danao City Families Flee From Homes

Around 30 families in Danao City have evacuated after the Tangon River overflowed due to the incessant rains.

On Wednesday (December 2, 2020), Danao City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) head Roland Reyes said that they have conducted a search and rescue operations after Tangon River overflowed.

Danao City’s disaster and rescue personnel have evacuated around 30 families living near the river due to high possibility of flooding in the area. The water has already swelled in the downstream portion of the Tangon River due to the heavy rains.

Reyes said that the rescue team are monitoring the water levels and still conducting an ongoing operations in six villages affected by the overflowing Tangon River. Here is the list of affected barangays:

  • Poblacion
  • Suba
  • Taboc
  • Guinacot
  • Taytay
  • Guinsay

“We are also continually monitoring the water levels of Tangon River, and we urge the public to be vigilant in their surroundings. If their officials said they need to evacuate, they must do so,” Reyes said.
