Roque Urges Filipino To Not Be Like Americans Who Are Offended Easily
ROQUE ON DUTERTE’S STATEMENTS – Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque urged the Filipino people to not be like Americans who get offended easily.
During a virtual press briefing, Roque addressed issues regarding the recent statements of President Rodrigo Duterte. Much like many of Duterte’s speeches, many find his sense of humor as sexist and misogynistic, especially the people from the Commission of Human Rights (CHR).
However, Roque defended the President and said that the public shouldn’t give much emphasis to Duterte’s jokes. According to Roque, Duterte’s jokes hold no malice. Furthermore, the Spokesperson said that the President wouldn’t be able to change because he’s in his 70s.
“Let’s not give too much meaning to the jokes of the president. Gano’n lang talaga si PResident at hindi na siya pupuwedeng mag bago because he’s already in his 70s pero wala pong any malice ang jokes niya… Let’s take a joke for what it is, a joke.”
Following this, Roque urged that Filipinos should not be like like Americans who gets easily offended.
