DOH Warns No Approved Vaccine Yet “Hindi Puwedeng Magpaturok”

DOH Warns No FDA Approved COVID-19 Vaccine Yet Following Sotto’s Remarks

DOH WARNS NO APPROVED VACCINE YET – Recently, Senate President Vicente Sotto III said Senator Francis Pangilinan and House Majority Leader Martin Romualdez got shots of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Meron ngang ganun eh. Si Senator Lacson ang tapang, immunized na ‘yan eh. Nagpa-injection na ‘yun eh“…

Nauna na ‘yun, matapang ‘yun eh, tsaka si Martin Romualdez

However, the Department of Health (DOH) Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that there was still no FDA-approved vaccine yet. During a press briefing on Monday, Vergeire said:

“Gusto nating sabihin sa ating mga kababayan, wala pang aprubadong bakuna na puwedeng gamitin dito sa ating bansa para sa COVID-19”.

Moreover, Sotto stated that he wasn’t sure which vaccine was injected. However, he said that it was probably Pfizer’s vaccine candidate.

Amid the continued onslaught of COVID-19, Vergeire said that she understands that a lot of people are excited to get the vaccine. But, she emphasized that “this is not the right way to go”.

Currently, Pfizer and Moderna are leading the race to develop a vaccine for the new coronavirus, COVID-19. Based on their latest clinical trials, both Moderna and Pfizer show a promising 95% success rate.

But, due to the availability of the vaccine and production, experts believe that low income earning countries such as the Philippines have a low chance of getting prioritized. Instead, countries such as the UK and US would likely get the vaccine first.
