Release of approved SSS Pension hike being urged by Solon
Senior Citizens Partylist Rep. Rodolfo Ordanes is urging the immediate release of the approved SSS Pension hike for its second tranche, under the House Resolution No. 1366.
Senior or seasoned citizens in the country will received additional amount for their pension aside from what they were previously receiving. Ordanes believe that the urgent implementation of the P1,000 second tranche increase will definitely be a big help for elderly, especially due to the recent calamity.
This will also, one way or the other, the economic burden that they are going through amid the pandemic, based on the article from Inquirer.
“As of [this year], 2,150,000 SSS pensioners are at high risk and fail to properly cope with the consecutive tragedies befalling our country from a global pandemic, an economic recession, massive floods, and super typhoons due to the undue delay in the implementation of the second tranche increase of the social security pension,” the lawmaker said.
The partylist representative also said that this matter was brought to the attention of President Rodrigo Duterte as a letter was sent dated November 18.
Ordanes stated in the latter that thousands of constituents are asking him for speedy implementation of the SSS pension hike. The second tranche of the increase will allow the senior citizens to receive additional P1,000. This was expected to be released in January 2019.
He also pointed out that although the administration is doing its best to address various issue, the “current efforts to protect our senior citizens simply not enough.”
Based on the report, in 2017, President Duterte approved the first P1,000 SSS Pension hike and the second tranche was supposed to be given starting 2019.
