DILG Update on Typhoon Ulysses Death Toll Following the Onslaught
TYPHOON ULYSSES DEATH TOLL – The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) gave an update on the deaths amid the onslaught of Typhoon Ulysses.
Recently, another tropical storm marked the history of the Philippines – Typhoon Ulysses. The impacts of the typhoon went beyond what was expected of it. Areas that were not usually having problems when heavy downpours take place were reached by flood.
In Catanduanes, Typhoon Ulysses triggered landslide and flood. The province has yet to recover from Typhoon Rolly when another tropical storm came incurred more damages in their structures.
Rizal and Marikina were also greatly affected by the tropical storm which caused extreme flooding. The water level rose following the heavy downpour forcing people to go to their rooftops.

Marikina Mayor Marcy Teodoro previously sought the national government’s help as many of his constituents needed to be rescued in their rooftops. Preventive evacuation took place before the onslaught of the typhoon but many areas that were not usually reached by flood before were reached now.
Recently, the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) gave an update on Typhoon Ulysses death toll. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said that Interior Secretary Eduardo Ano reported 14 deaths.
The DILG record about the Typhoon Ulysses death toll is different from the count of the police which is at 26 and the military which said they found 39 bodies. Based on the report, Roque clarified that it is because the counting is subject for confirmation.
“Nagkakaiba-iba ang casualty figures dahil subject po ito to local government confirmation,” the presidential spokesman said.
