Water & Power Outage Experience in Several Barangays in Manila Due to Effects of Typhoon Ulysses
MANILA – The residents of several barangays in Metro Manila are now struggling due to water and power outage after lashed by Typhoon Ulysses.
Barangay 373 residents in Sta. Cruz, Manila have expressed their hardships and struggles due to the power interruption after their areas has been struck by the powerful typhoon. The area is suffering power outage for almost 28 hours.
The typhoon carrying strong winds and heavy rainfall destroyed the electrical post in the barangay. The resident noticed rust and the electrical post is already fragile, which eventually collapsed amid the onslaught of Ulysses.
Some villages in Metro Manila and its nearby areas suffered water interruption after the devastation of the strong tropical cyclone. Maynilad explained that the turbidity of water in Ipo Dam affects the pressure and water supply.
The water distribution company said that the contaminated water supply entering that water treatment affects the quality of the water. Barangay 373 expects that the water supply would resume on Friday (November 13, 2020).
The residents temporarily took water supply from “Poso” just to clean the dirt left by the flood. They were just buying mineral water for consumption.

Meanwhile, Meralco has already hired contractors to repair the damaged electrical posts for the immediate resumption of electricity in the area.
