Manila Barangays with Zero COVID-19 Cases Gets Cash Incentive
MANILA BARANGAYS – Several barangays in the Philippines’ capital city received a huge amount as a cash incentive for having zero COVID-19 cases in two months.
Manila, the capital city of the country, is one of the cities that recorded cases of the COVID-19 disease. Undeniably, there is a huge challenge for Mayor Isko Moreno considering how wide the city is.
There are around 900 cities in the country’s capital. The COVID-19 pandemic started in the first quarter of this year and is still existing in the country now.

In fact, mayors of the different cities have agreed to place the entire Metro Manila under a General Community Quarantine (GCQ) until December. Also, Christmas parties are not allowed as part of the efforts to prevent the spread of the disease.
In Manila, Mayor Isko Moreno has another way to encourage the barangay levels to tighten their measures and strengthen their efforts to curb the spread of the disease. The LGU is giving cash incentives to Manila barangays with zero COVID-19 cases for a specific period.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, 73 Manila barangays recorded zero cases of COVID-19 from September 1 to October 31. They were given Php 100,000.00 each as cash incentive.
Mayor Isko is determined to implement the same move for barangays who will have zero cases of COVID-19 from December 1 to January 31. According to him, it is to encourage barangays to strengthen their measures amid the Christmas season and the celebration of the feasts of the Sto. Niño and the Quiapo Church in January.
Currently, there is a total of 508 active cases of coronavirus in the city. More updates may be posted soon.
