The 70 assenting votes favored the “Resolution Denying the Franchise Application of ABS-CBN Corporation to Construct, Install, Establish, Operate, and Maintain Radio and Broadcasting Stations in the Philippines”. Meanwhile, there 11 lawmakers who were not in favor of this.

It created a massive job loss where most of their over 11,000 employees lost their work amid the pandemic including some of their stars who now transferred to other networks already. And Boy Abunda, who is also affected, expressed sadness and shared how the shut down of his home network has affected him and his life as a host.

The shut down made him think that it would be the end of his career. It made him feel irrelevant, powerless, and lost as to where he would place himself now after losing his network’s chance to free TV airing. Aside from being affected as host, it affected him as talent manager and producer as well.

During his interview with Monster Radio RX 93.1 he shared that he already accepted and embraced that fact that it’s his career’s end. He said, “I felt weak in the beginning. I felt I was on my way to obsolescence. Sabi ko, ‘Ito na ang panahon, malalaos na talaga kaming lahat, ako.’ I confronted that. I embraced that.”

However, being lost and in nowhere is no stranger to him because he also started from nothing before becoming the host that he is now – one of the well-loved and most respected in the country. He believes that entertainment industry will live and they will eventually survive from this crisis.
