The Severe Weather Bulletin issued by the state weather bureau says that Severe Tropical Storm Siony is moving in the west-southwest direction towards the Luzon Strait.

According to GMA News, Siony accelerate towards the west or west-northwest direction in the next 48 hours. Its center is expected to pass over or be near the vicinity of Batanes or Babuyan Islands by Friday morning or noon.

It is, then, predicted to turn towards the southwest on Saturday morning and accelerate over the West Philippine Sea towards the direction of central or southern Vietnam after leaving the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

The weather disturbance is expected to reach typhoon category with a peak intensity of 120 kilometers per hour by Friday morning as it passes near or over Batanes-Babuyan Islands area.

After exiting PAR, Siony will weaken due to increasingly unfavorable conditions over the West Philippine Sea associated with a northeasterly surge.

Based on the report, Rolly (internationally called Goni) was last spotted at 985 kilometers west of Southern Luzon outside PAR as of 4 AM Thursday.

It is packed with maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour with gusts of up to 90 kilometers per hour. It is moving westward slowly towards the southern portion of Vietnam.
