PH Has 25% Lower COVID-19 Cases, Palace Cites Red Cross As Factor
PH 25% DROP IN CASES – The Philippines has seen a 25% decrease in its number of daily COVID-19 cases after the PH Red Cross decided to stop testing.
It could be recalled that the PRC announced halting its COVID-19 testing service as the government still had close to 1 billion debt to pay. Furthermore, the PRC was also responsible for the bulk of the country’s coronavirus testing.
As such, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said:
Well, I’m sure somehow the action of PRC in stopping their testing somehow contributed because less testing of course means fewer numbers
According to the Department of Health, the Philippines had a 25 percent decrease in new coronavirus cases last month. Previously, the average daily cases was at 2517, currently, it is at 1,887.
However, Roque added that it was also due to the Filipinos compliance with health protocols. “We have the President no less endorsing in a commercial that people should wear masks, wash hands and observe social distancing”, he added.
As of writing, the Philippines has over 385,400 cases of COVID-19. Of that number, 348,830 have recovered from the deadly disease. Unfortunately, around 7,269 lost the battle with the new coronavirus.
