Pres. Duterte Warns Corrupt Government Officials Anew

DUTERTE – Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte warned the corrupt officials of the government anew.

Even before he came president of the Philippines, Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte who was a Davao City Mayor that time is vocal about his madness towards corrupts officials and employees of the government.

Two of his staunch campaigns during the 2016 presidential election campaign is the fight against drugs and corruption. Undeniably, there is a strong movement against the two under the current administration.

In fact, a lot of people working in the government and in state-run agencies were suspended or asked to resign over corruption issues. One of the government agencies now that is facing such issues is the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, more commonly called as PhilHealth.

Aside from PhilHealth, the Bureau of Immigration is also facing corruption allegations – the so-called “Pastillas Scheme”. Ombudsman Samuel Martires has issued a preventive suspension to 44 officials of BI last week over the said corruption scheme.

Recently, Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte who is a staunch critic of corruption issued a new warning to corrupt government officials and employees -“You will eat money in front of me,” he said based on a report on ABS-CBN News.

According to the President, it is his style and he knows it is wrong and he can be charged over it but he will still do it. Based on the report, he also expressed that there area round 70 people working in BI who are involved in corruption issues.

“‘Yang sa Immigration, ang mga ano diyan, mga opisyal, they are allowed 10 or 20 na pasok na walang ano. Pero siyempre, hihingi ng pera ‘yan sa ano. ‘Yan ang raket diyan,” he said.
