Angel Locsin Fears Red-tagging Might Block her Relief Efforts
ANGEL LOCSIN – Actress and philanthropist Angel Locsin worry about the people she helps might also be red-tagged alongside her.
Kapamilya actress, host, and philanthropist Angel Locsin portrayed the fictional Filipino comics superheroine ‘Darna.’ She has shown heroism off-camera by joining in various charitable causes and support emergency response.
Because of that, the 35-year-old has been hailed the ‘real-life Darna.” Last December, Angel made it to Forbes Asia’s list of top philanthropists.
Angel Locsin provided help after powerful cyclones and at the height of lockdowns due to the pandemic from March to June. She and her fiancé Neil Arce also provided tents, relief foods, and medical supplies for COVID-19 frontliners.
Recently, the spokesperson of the National task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC), Lt. Gen. Antonio Parlade Jr. aired his suspicion that the actress and her sister Ella Colmenares are members of the terrorist group NPA.

While she recognizes that the General was only doing his job, Angel Locsin denied being connected with the terrorist group. She said she’s against the recruitment of children to be trained for combat.
In an interview with TeleRadyo last Saturday, the prominent actress said she feared red-tagging will prevent her relief efforts. She said the volunteers and beneficiaries might also be red-tagged alongside her.
“Parang itong parating na bagyo, ‘di mo alam kung lalabas ka ngayon para tumulong. Ewan ko, baka iyong puntahan ko baka ma-red tag kami, baka madamay…”
“Siyempre wala naman kaming ganoong resources kagaya nila para protektahan ang sarili namin,” she added.
