Aid Flights Scheduled For Catanduanes Soon Says NDRRMC
AID FLIGHTS SCHEDULED FOR CATANDUANES – Following the rampage of Super Typhoon Rolly, Catanduanes has been scheduled to receive much-needed relief goods and essential items.
Super Typhoon Rolly, the strongest typhoon to enter the Philippines this year, caused immense damage to Catanduanes, and the Bicol Region. Thousands of families lost their homes, livelihood, and others have sadly lost loved ones due to the storm.
Meanwhile, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) spokesperson Mark Timbal, “Flights have been scheduled to ferry relief items, food packs and other non-food items that will be used by the local government in the affected area“.

Currently, temporary shelters would be provided for evacuees and displaced residents. Along with this, the shelter was also among the needed essentials as schools could occupy fewer people due to social distancing protocols.
Timbal also mentioned that about 90% of homes in the island province were severely damaged. Additionally, power and communication lines have yet to be restored. Unfortunately, water services were also shut down temporarily due to potential contamination.
As of writing, the NDRRMC reported 17 casualties due to Rolly including 3 deaths in Catanduanes. However, the NDRRMC expects the number to increase as more search and rescue operations ramp up.
