Parlade To Continue Red-Tagging Groups Allegedly Linked To Terrorists
PARLADE TO CONTINUE RED-TAGGING – Lt. Gen. Antonio Parlade Jr. said he would still continue his fight against terrorist, but only with evidence.
Recently, Parlade drew flack on social media due to his “warning” to Kapamilya star, Liza Soberano. According to Parlade, Soberano should stop affiliating herself with organizations who were fronts of the New People’s Army.
Because of this, netizens and lawmakers criticized the Lt. Gen. for his statements. Among these lawmakers was Senator Riza Hontiveros. According to Hontiveros, Parlade would definitely be held accountable for his words.
Meanwhile, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana recently said that he met with Parlade over the weekend. Based on an article from Manila Bulletin, the two met to discuss Parlade’s remarks on Soberano and Miss Universe 2018, Catriona Gray’s affiliation with Gabriela Youth.
Lorenzana said Paralde would “still be doing what he is doing but would be more careful in accusing people if there is no evidence“. However, as per the report, Parlade said that the intention of Lorenza was not to stop making allegations.
That was not the intention of Secretary Lorenzana and what was published was [for me] to just shut up. He said, ‘continue what you are doing as long as we have evidence, press on
Meanwhile, Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo, defended the Lt. Gen., saying he was merely giving Soberano a warning, not a threat. But, Panelo did note that it was Hontiveros who’s making a threat against Parlade.
Teka muna, senadora, mukhang ikaw ang nagbabanta hindi si General Parlade, Panelo said. Additionally, Panelo said Pangilinan overreacted to the issue.
