The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, on the other hand, said that about 5,555 families amounting to 25,268 individuals were affected by the storm, according to Philippine Star.

NDRRMO spokesperson Mark Timbal said that 1,789 families or 8,473 persons were forced to remain outside evacuation centers.

So far, no casualties or missing persons have been reported to them, Timbal added.

“89 evacuation centers were used across Regions 2, 3, and Calabarzon,”

“Cost of damages has been tagged as on this morning: P121,697,633.18. Of which P92.4 million is agriculture, while P29.2 million is infrastructure mostly coming from school facilities,”

Based on the report, Pepito was last seen at about 475 kilometers west northwest of Iba, Zambales, which is outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

It is packed with gusts of up to 150 kilometers per hour and is moving northwestward at 20 kilometers per hour. It is expected to move westward and make landfall on Vietnam on Sunday.

“Today, light to moderate with at times heavy rains will be experienced over Batanes, Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan,”

The bureau added that all Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals in the Philippines have been lifted.

However, Gale warning remains in effect over the following areas:

  • northern and western seaboards of Northern Luzon
  • western seaboards of Central Luzon
  • Batangas
  • Occidental Mindoro (including Lubang Island),
  • Palawan (including Calamian and Kalayaan Islands)

This is due to rough waters, which would mean that sea travel is risky over these areas, especially for small seacrafts.

Pepito is forecasted to be at the following locations in the next few days:

  • Friday morning: 560 km West of Sinait, Ilocos Sur (Outside PAR)
  • Saturday morning: 770 km North of Pagasa Island, Palawan (Outside PAR)
  • Sunday morning: 915 km Northwest of Pagasa Island, Palawan (Outside PAR)
