Christmas Parties Banned In Metro Despite Lowered Quarantine Restrictions

CHRISTMAS PARTIES BANNED IN METRO – Christmas party celebrations have always been a beloved and important tradition in the Filipino culture.

However, despite the lowered restrictions in Metro Manila, Christmas parties are still prohibited. This decision was agreed upon by mayors of the Metro as they placed the region under a general community quarantine.

According to Interior Secretary Eduardo Año, the mayors decided to place Metro Manila under a GCQ until December. But, mass gatherings are still banned in GCQ areas.

It was only recently that Metro Manila saw a decrease in the number of coronavirus cases. Still, experts believe that if restrictions become too lax, a mass gathering such as a Christmas Party could lead to another spike in COVID-19 infections.

Meanwhile, during an interview with TeleRadyo, Año stated:

Under GCQ bawal pa ang parties. Ang ating NCR (National Capital Region), nagkasundo ‘yung ating mayors na under GCQ muna tayo, magluluwag lang para makasuporta sa ekonomiya pero hindi muna mag-MGCQ (modified GCQ). Konting tiis na lang ito

Currently, the Philippines has reported 359,169 cases of COVID-19. Of this number, more than 310,000 have recovered. Unfortunately, over 6,600 have succumbed to the deadly disease.
