MMC Announced Quarantine Pass Not Needed In NCR Amid GCQ

QUARANTINE PASS NOT NEEDED IN NCR – The Metro Manila Council said quarantine passes are no longer a requirement when going out.

Recently, the Inter-Agency Task Force met with the Metro Manila Council to talk about reforms to quarantine restrictions. As Metro Manila shifts to a less strict general community quarantine, MMC chairman Edwin Olivarez said this regarding quarantine passes:

Opo, depende na lang po ‘yan sa bawat, but it depends on the local government unit…

Pero kung meron pa po silang (LGU) existing ordinance, hindi pa na-lift, pwede sila, pero under GCQ guidelines hindi na po kailangan ng quarantine pass

Previously, the need for quarantine passes was revoked last May as Metro Manila imposed a GCQ. However, Local Government Units made it mandatory as the Metro shifted to a MECQ of August 4 to August 18.

But, due to the decreasing number of coronavirus cases, several restrictions were lowered in a bid to revive the economy. Among these decisions was to lower the age restrictions from 21 to 18. Although, Olivarez stated that some cities may lower the restrictions to 15-65 years old.

Currently, The National Capital Region has reported 179,452 cases of COVID-19. Yesterday, the Department of Health reported 846 new cases within the metro. As such, there are currently 14,233 active cases in NCR with 162,061 recoveries. Sadly, more than 3,000 have succumbed to the virus in the region.
