Five Men In Carcar City, Cebu For Playing ‘Hantak’

FIVE MEN IN CARCAR CITY – Five men in the city of Carcar, Cebu, were arrested on Sunday afternoon for playing ‘hantak’.

According to Inquirer, the five men were arrested for playing ‘hantak’, a game of head and tails, in a vacant lot in Sitio Ibabao in Barangay Perrelos. Among them were one who was not wearing a face mask.

The suspects were identified as Emerson Albay Quijas, aged 33; Unil Jovellar Mandawitnon, aged 34; Jason Badilles Padal, aged 32; Jessie Quijas Padal, aged 32; and Excelly Singhid Quijas, aged 33; all from Sitio Ibabao.

The Carcar City police said in their report that the suspects violated Presidential Decree 1602, which provides stiffer penalties for violating Philippine gambling laws.

The police added that the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) received a tip from a concerned citizen on their presence and their involvement in the said activity.

Based on the report, Police Major Jomar Medil, officer-in-charge of Carcar police, led the DEU operatives in their operation at about 3:40 PM.

Retrieved from the suspects were P258 bet money and three pieces of 25 centavo coins that they used in the game.

They are currently detained at the police station’s detention facility while the police prepare for the filing of appropriate charges against them.
