Korina Sanchez in Doing Hard News: “Pagkatapos siguro ng administrasyon”

Korina Sanchez not Interested in Doing Hard News in Current Administration

The newly transferred news anchor and TV-host Korina Sanchez says this is not the right time for going back doing hard news.

Korina Sanchez said on One PH’s “Wag po” she has no plan to return on making a hard news program. Korina was known as a hard news anchor and commentator when she was still on the Kapamilya network.

The hard news that Korina did on ABS-CBN’s show was Hoy Gising! (1992-1997), Bandila (2006-2009), The World Tonight (weekend, 1987-1995), and TV Patrol (1995-1996, 2001-2004, 2010-2015).

She left TV Patrol in 2015 due to the candidacy of her husband Mar Roxas running for the president position in the 2016 elections. However, he was defeated by then Davao City Mayor and incumbent President Rodrigo Duterte.

Since then, Korina has not returned to being a news anchor. She focused on Rated K, ABS-CBN’s news magazine that aired from 2004 until this year. And now that Korina has moved to TV5, she is the host of Rated Korina, another news magazine show that airs on October 24.

In an interview with her on the program, hosted by Ed Lingao, Patrick Paez, Lourd de Veyra, Melvyn Calderon, Jove Francisco, and Manuel Mogato, last Wednesday, October 14, the 56-year-old veteran broadcaster was asked if she still intends to return on making hard news.

According to Korina, she has not thought of it yet. She also said that this time is not good if she becomes a hard news anchor and commentator because of Mar that fought against President Duterte in the 2016 elections.

“May mga nagtatanong talaga sa akin niyan ‘no, like, ‘Okay you’re going to TV5, why don’t you do the news, etcetera?’ And ako mismo naman ang nagsabi na, ‘Well, you know, it’s not a secret na yung asawa ko ay nakalaban ng kasalukuyang presidente. And parang hindi tama sigurong panahon na bumalik ako sa hard news,” she said.

“Siguro pagkatapos na lang siguro ng kasalukuyang administrasyon,” she added.

She also revealed that even in her social media posts, she avoids commenting on politics. Korina is also not in a hurry because she can focus more on Rated Korina.

kahit na sabihin mong wala kang bias, you know, objective ka… May magkukuwestiyon at magkukuwestiyon sa ‘yo, e. kahit sa social media hindi ako nagkokomento. Wala akong mga political editorials, I stay away from it,” she said.
