Construction Worker Borrows Bike & Travels for Nearly 2 Hours to Reach Work

A construction worker who is just borrowing a bicycle and traveling for nearly two hours just to reach his workplace breaks the hearts of netizens.

The Facebook page “Unang Hirit” has shared the heartbreaking story of a poor construction worker who is just borrowing a bicycle just to reach his workplace. The photos garnered various reactions from the online community.

The 47-year-old man identified as Rogelio Farinas starts to travel as early as 4:00 am in the morning using the bicycle he borrowed. He came all the way from Bagong Silang, Caloocan City heading to Quezon City.

Tatay Rogelio doesn’t have his own bicycle and could not afford to buy after spending all his money for his child who died due to cancer of the bone. He is spending around 1 hour and 30 minutes cycling just to reach his workplace.

Farinas is traveling without even a helmet or other safety gears to protect himself from accidents.

The Kapuso show “Unang Hirit” gives some gifts for the hardworking man such as a free helmet, reflective vest, tail lights, and supplements. The UHLigtasPadyakProject aims to ensure the safety of the cyclists along the road.
