Paolo Contis Defend Fellow Celebrities Who Goes Vlogging Due to Pandemic
Kapuso actor-comedian Paolo Contis defended fellow celebrities who jump into vlogging amid the pandemic and country’s crisis.
Even before the pandemic, some artists were already vlogging or video blogging. However, due to the pandemic and the disappearance of ABS-CBN on free-to-air TV, there is a sudden increase in celebrity vloggers.
The showbiz industry has been hit hard because of these two reasons. Many artists have lost their jobs. This pandemic marked the sudden activation of artists on social media such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.
Aside from having great exposure on the web, it also possible to monetize the video content via YouTube and Facebook, which serves as your salary on social media. So it becomes the potential part-time job of the artists, and they can do it easier because they already have a fan base.

Meanwhile, the Kapuso actor-comedian Paolo Contis has explained why most celebrities turn into video vlogging. In a zoom press conference of I Can See You: The Promise, he said online media is a practical way for artists to continue to be visible.
“When the pandemic happened, hindi natin alam na ito [ay] mangyayari, nasa survival mode tayo, let’s face it, isa sa way na kumita was vlogging. I think that’s our right to make it happen. Kailangan naming kumita,” said by the Kapuso actor.
He also said that artists cannot be blamed for switching to social media for a career or earning money now that the country is facing a health crisis, adding that people need to see them also via social media.
“Siyempre, di ba, pag inaalagaan mo yung pandemic, inaalagaan mo rin yung career mo, inaalagaan mo rin na makita ka ng tao, na okay ka… kasi wala ka namang show.”
Paolo stressed, “Ang point ko, kailangan namin, e. It’s not like choice namin siya. Pero for us, ako kasi, ako, nag-vlog din ako. I think lahat tayo.” “Pero I think nasa magandang ano naman yung gusto naming mangyari. Hindi naman namin gustong magkasapawan, di ba?” he added.
As of now, Paolo has nearly 300,000 YouTube subscribers and over one million followers on Facebook. His videos with his family and his funny videos himself also earned thousands of reactions from his fans.
