Authorities Found COVID-19 Positive Frozen Fish Products In Indonesia
FROZEN FISH PRODUCTS – Authorities from Indonesia suspended a seafood company after finding traces of COVID-19 on its products.
However, the authorities noted that the virus was found on the outermost layer of the package, not on the fish itself. According to an article from the Bangkok Post, the company was known as PT Putri Indah.
Because of the discovery, exports from the company to China have been suspended. However, other seafood companies may still continue their export activities.
Meanwhile, local reporters tried to contact the supplier for additional details regarding the incident. But, the marketing officer in charge of PT Putri Indah declined to answer questions.
As per the article, China’s General Administration of Customs said they would discontinue import applications from the seafood company for one week. This was due to a batch of frozen hairtail fish tested positive for the new coronavirus.
Currently, Indonesia has reported over 244,670 cases of COVID-19. Of this number, 177,327 patients have recovered from the virus. Sadly, over 9,553 patients have succumbed to the deadly respiratory disease.
