COVID-19 Found In Frozen Seafood As China City Fights Surge Of Cases

COVID-19 FOUND IN FROZEN SEAFOOD – Authorities from Beijing found traces of the new coronavirus on the packaging of imported frozen seafood.

The products were discovered in the port city of Dalian which had a recent surge COVID-19 cases. According to a report from GMA, the virus could be found on the outer packaging of the frozen products.

Furthermore, these seafood were said to be bought by three large companies in the in Yantai, a port in eastern Shandong province. Meanwhile, local authorities from Yantai emphasized that the products were an imported shipment.

As per the report, the Yantai government said that it merely landed on Dalian. However, they did not disclose where it originated.

Last month, Dalian customs officers previously found COVID-19 in the packaging of frozen shrimps that came from Ecuador. Afterward, China suspended imports from 3 Ecuadorean shrimp companies.

Currently, Dalian City has an outbreak of COVID-19 cases. The first patient worked at a seafood processing company. Then, as of August 9, Dalian had reported a total of 92 coronavirus cases.

Some of the frozen seafood products bought by the three Yantai companies had already been processed for export. Meanwhile, the rest of had been kept in cold storage and has yet to enter the public market.

China now has a total of 84,712 cases of COVID-19. Of that number, at least 4,634 have died due to the disease while 79, 284 have recovered.

As of writing China now has 794 active cases with 750 having mild symptoms of the disease and the other 44 in serious or critical condition.
