Netizens slammed GMA reporter Joseph Morong
GMA reporter Joseph Morong faced a strong backlash from netizens after he shared his Twitter post about art.
Morong has become a trending topic on the micro-blogging site several times these past few months. Netizens would commend him for summarizing the lengthy speeches of President Rodrigo Duterte during press briefings because he is GMA’s correspondent in the Malacanang Palace.
An incident also happened when he trended on Twitter because of the photo he posted. It was a selfie but in the background showed his laptop’s screen with an indecent post on his newsfeed.
Morong deleted that photo and apologized to netizens. He said that he will also filter who he follows on Twitter. The news correspondent also jokingly said that he will just follow wholesome accounts.
On Saturday, September 19, the GMA reporter once again trended on Twitter due to his tweet about art. Aside from being in the news, Joseph Morong is also attached on his artistic side. He paints and he would showcase his artwork on his Instagram account.
Just recently, he tweeted: “Art for money is not art.” This did not sit well with netizens, especially to those thriving artists in the country. An apparent artist said that the post of the reporter made him cringe.
Another netizen said that what he tweeted was “erroneous”.
Some netizens urged the GMA reporter to apologize for what he posted while some stressed that he should be responsible of what he is sharing on social media.
However, there were also those who agreed with what Joseph Morong said.
The GMA reporter has already deleted his tweet and apologized. “I acknowledge all your comments. Didn’t mean to diminish struggling artists. I believe that even when the artpiece is sold, it still comes with it, the passion and the soul of the artists,” Morong said in his tweet.
