Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Gives Advice To Young Actors

Yorme said he treated Kuya Germs like his second father and a mentor. The host passed away on January 8, 2016, due to cardiac arrest.

On Wednesday, September 16, Isko Moreno made an appearance of the online show “We Rise Together.” He talked about his job as a mayor and how they fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Moreno also shared some advice to aspiring actors. He said professionalism in the workplace and learning how to save money is very important to succeed.

Kuya Germs taught me very well. Hindi baling ikaw ang naghihintay kaysa sa ikaw ang hinihintay. That’s the key. Sabi niya ‘yung professionalism. Ang tendency kasi kung superstar naman hindi mo maiiwasan minsan masyado kang nawiwindang dala ng sigla, saya tagumpay but you have to focus. Showbiz is a career; treat it professionally. Sinasabi ‘yan ni Kuya Germs,” said Moreno.

Isko Moreno told them that they have to be kind with the people around them and learn to accept that all the good things may come to an end. “Katulad ng araw, sa pagsikat niya, may takdang paglubog, ‘yun tiyak din ‘yon. At the end of the day, may ipapapanganak na guwapo, may ipapanganakan na maganda, may ipapanganak na magaling kumanta, magaling umarte and so on and so forth. Be mindful of it,” he said.

“While on your career now, you have to save, Kuya Germs told me that. Kailangan mo mag-save. Don’t splurge ever. Buy things you appreciate. If a particular thing makes you happy, you deserve it. But don’t overdo it. You have to save for the rainy days. You have to save for your future, because your future is short-lived in showbiz industry. Remember this — short-lived. Not everybody will be Sharon Cuneta, not everybody will be Fernando Poe Jr. Not everybody will stay there longer. Tandaan niyo ‘yan, hindi lahat.”

“So if that is already a fact and you understand it, this is the best time at the early stage to save, save and save. Pagdating ng pagtiklop ng araw, which is hindi ka na hihiyawan ng tao — mayroon ka pa ring fans, no question; it’s just that they have new preference — then you can still live a longer life, you can sustain your economic life. The tendency the longer you stay in showbiz without planning, without a fallback, by the time that you realize that you need a fallback, it might be too late for you,” he added.
