ABS-CBN Frequencies Recalled By NTC Made “No Additional Impact” To The Network

What’s the impact when NTC recalled ABS-CBN Frequencies after it has shut down?

ABS-CBN FREQUENCIES – The frequencies of ABS-CBN being recalled by NTC after junking their franchise renewal bid has made no additional impact.

Last May, the ABS-CBN network received a cease and desist order from the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) which ultimately shut the network down and stopped their broadcasting operations. And on July 10, receiving 70 votes to junk their franchise renewal bid and after 13 comprehensive and exhaustive congressional hearings, the biggest media company in the country officially shut down.

Previously, another load for the network, the NTC mandated to recall their frequencies for having no Congressional franchise to operate. The order was signed by Commissioner Gamaliel Cordoba and Deputy Commissioners Edgardo Cabarios and Delilah Deles.

It covers their free television and radio broadcasts nationwide including the Channel 2, AM radio station DZMM and DWRR-FM or more known as MOR 101.9. ABS-CBN operated 42 free-to-air TV stations, 5 AM stations, 18 FM stations, and 10 digital television stations.

And according to PEP, it has been stated in Philippine Stock Exchange that this has made no additional impact. It said, “The recall of the frequencies has no additional impact on ABS-CBN Corporation.”

Meanwhile, a massive job loss has resulted to their junked franchise renewal. Another is the transfer of their artists to other network. And here are some show to be aired in TV5 featuring Kapamilya artists:

  • Noontime show “Laugh Out Loud” produced by Star Magic’s Johnny Manahan featuring Billy Crawford, Alex Gonzaga, K Brosas, and Wacky Kiray
  • “Rated Korina” hosted by Korina Sanchez
  • Sitcom “Oh My Dad” starring Ian Veneracion, Dimples Romana, Sue Ramirez, Ariel Urieta, and Gloria Diaz, to be helmed by Jeffrey Jeturian
  • “Sunday Noontime Variety Show” with Piolo Pascual and Catriona Gray, also to be directed by Manahan
  • Romantic drama series “I Got You” starring Beauty Gonzales, RK Bagatsing, and Yen Santos to be directed by Dan Villegas
  • “Sunday Kada Kada Sunday” directed by Edgar Mortiz
