ABS-CBN Frequencies Available For Other Broadcast Companies – Solons

ABS-CBN frequencies are now open for other companies

Congressmen Jonathan Sy-Alvarado and Michael Defensor expressed that ABS-CBN frequencies are now available for other broadcast companies.

Congress denied the franchise application of the media giant and this forced the Kapamilya network to shut down. The frequencies of the network included five AM and 18 FM radio stations, 42 analog and 10 digital television stations around the Philippines.

Based on the report from The Philippine Star, the frequencies previously occupied by ABS-CBN Corporation will not be reserved until the company will be able to secure the application of the franchise in 2022.

Rep. Defensor echoed this statement from his fellow lawmaker as he said that the government can now offer the slots for other broadcast companies. “Technically, the frequencies of ABS-CBN are returned to the state,” he stressed.

This matter surfaced after the proposal to use the ABS-CBN frequencies for the Department of Education’s distance learning did not push through.
