Cop Holds Son Hostage, Shoots 3 Colleagues In Quezon City
COP HOLDS SON HOSTAGE – Tensions rose during a hostage and shooting situation in Quezon City on Thursday as a police officer held his own son hostage.
Due to the incident, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) ordered an investigation of the officer involved. According to an article from Philippine Star, the suspect was identified as Lt. Emmanuel Jovero. Furthermore, the police officer was assigned at the personnel holding and accounting unit of the Directorate for Personnel and Records Management at Camp Crame.
Reports stated that Jovero shot his neighbor, Pat. Nurruhudin Salahudin and Cpls. John Mark Forayo and Romeo Tandayu of QCPD Station 7. As per the article, the three officers responded to a hostage-taking report along 1st street in Barangay Bagong Lipunan ng Crame at around 6:30 in the morning.
As the police arrived in the scene, tension rose as the suspect took Salahudin and another neighbor, Pat. Romesyl Destura as his hostages. Held at gunpoint, Jovero took the other officers inside his house.
Forayo tried to stop the suspect, however, Jovero quickly grabbed his own son and used him as a human shield as he shot the responding officers. Afterward, he went to the bathroom and noticed that he had a gunshot wound.
Seeing this as an opportunity, Salahuddin didn’t hesitate to grab Jovero’s gun. But, due to the commotion, the gun suddenly went off and hit the suspect’s son in the left knee. However, police investigators have yet to determine the motive behind the suspect’s actions.
The suspect and the wounded victims were admitted to the PNP General Hospital for treatment.
