PH Senator Manny Pacquiao expressed sadness over alleged corruption within PhilHealth.
MANNY PACQUIAO – Boxing legend and senator Manny Pacquiao has this statement over the alleged corruption happening in PhilHealth.
Former National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Dante Gierran is the chief of Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) appointed by President Rodrigo Duterte. This is after the president advised the resigned Ricardo Morales to step down due to his medical condition.
Senator Kiko Pangilinan reacted to his appointment stressing questionable points over his qualification. This is because Section 14 of Republic Act 11223 or Universal Health Care indicated that the person appointed must have at least 7 years of experience being in the field of public health, management, finance, and health economics or a combination of any of the stated expertise. And the new PhilHealth chief admitted he doesn’t have any experience.
This all happened amid the alleged corruption within PhilHealth after someone emerged and revealed it. The anomaly involved Php 15 billion of funds. Saddened and in fury about this, Senator Manny Pacquiao expressed his disappointment about this.
He is angry over the fact that while he’s spending his personal money to help other people, the money for the people is being stolen by the officials. He expressed, “Nagagalit ako kasi ako, kahit sarili kong pera ginagastos ko sa taong bayan tapos ‘yung pera para sa mahihirap ninanakaw.”
He also shared his pieces of sentiments to resigned PhilHealth chief indicating that he was put in the position to avoid corruption and should have acted upon it and not just reason out “Yan na kasi ang kinagisnan noong umupo ako.”
