CHED: 731 Colleges, Universities To Start Online Learning Starting August

CHED – The Commission on Higher Education said that there are about 731 higher education institutions who will start online and blended learning this August.

This came from CHED chairperson Prospero de Vera, who also said in a Palace briefing, that there are only 20 private universities who have opened from June to July, according to a report from GMA News.

“Ngayong Agosto, ito ang pinakamaraming bilang ng universities na magbubukas. Meron ding magbubukas ng Setyembre hanggang Oktubre,”

“So, depende sa kakayanan ng mga pamantasan na magbukas,” 

De Vera said that 186 more universities and colleges will start their classes in September or October.

About 2,400 higher education institutions are currently operating  in the Philippines, the commission added.

Based on the report, the Department of Education (DepEd) moved the class opening from August 24 to October 5 in public schools in order to have.

De Vera Noted that schools have different schedules of opening because they offer programs in various academic terms such as semesters, trimesters, and quarters.

The academic institutions considered their preparedness during the COVID-19 pandemic in choosing the date for their class opening.
