DILG Charges 437 People Over Alleged Pandemic Aid Corruption

DILG – The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) recently filed administrative cases against 437 over pandemic aid corruption.

According to ABS-CBN News, the cases that was filed at the Office of the Ombudsman include a plea for the immediate suspension from duty of the respondents who reported to have pocketed funds or give aid to unauthorized or ghost beneficiaries.

Among the 437 charged were 203 elected officials, which included a town mayor, councilors, village chairmen, and youth council leaders. Also included were some treasurers, secretaries, social welfare and health officers, and daycare teachers who are allegedly involved in corruption.

Based on the report, the cops are also probing 626 people who would also face criminal complaints over the social amelioration program (SAP) soon, according to Interior Undersecretary Bernardo Florece.
