61 OFWs in Nueva Ecija Center Were Sent Home after Recovering from COVID-19

A total of 61 Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in Nueva Ecija, were sent home after recovering from coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

In the report of Presidential Communications (Government of the Philippines), the sixty-one repatriated OFWs stayed at the We Heal as One Center at Fort Magsaysay in Nueva Ecija after they were tested positive with COVID-19.

Thursday, August 20, a simple send-off was held by the Bureau of Quarantine and the medical staff for the COVID survivors as they were returning to their home after battling the disease in the quarantine facility and before they were fetched by their families and loved ones to go home.

According to the report, those recovered patients are the first batch discharged from the facility. The OFWs stayed at the quarantine facility which has 478 air-conditioned rooms allotted for COVID-positive patients, while 44 rooms are for the medical staff.

Patients receive 24/7 medical care and assistance, free meals, and have access to the free internet connection at the facility. The Fort Magsaysay quarantine center is part of the national government’s strategy.

The strategy is to convert major facilities into quarantine sites for COVID-19 patients with mild symptoms and asymptomatics to avoid congestion in hospitals and further prevent transmission of coronavirus in the communities.
