LIVING AND NON-LIVING THINGS – In this topic, we are going to know the meaning and examples of living and non-living things.
Living Things
Living things are basically all that exist and are alive/ They are also made of microscopic structures called cells.
Another characteristic from this classification is that they can grow and exhibit movement or locomotion, experience metabolism, and are capable of producing a new life of their own kind.
Again, their characteristics include:
- Reproduction
- Different levels of organization
- Made up of cells
- Responds to the environment
- Grow and develop
- Obtain and uses energy
Examples
Here are some of the examples:
- birds
- insects
- animals
- trees
- human beings
Non-Living Things
These things, on the other hand, are basically not alive. They are the other way around since they do not possess life, do not possess cells, and do not grow or show locomotion/movement
Since they do not possess life, they do not have a life span.
As a recap, their characteristics include:
- Do not possess life
- Do not have no metabolic activities
- Has no definite and certain size of their own.
- Grows by accretion or adding materials externally.
- Never dies since they do not have a life span
- Absence of fundamental life processes
