Baguio City Now Experiencing 2nd Wave of Coronavirus Crisis

BAGUIO CITY – Mayor Benjamin Magalong said the city is now experiencing the second wave of coronavirus infection.

Philippines suffer the impact of the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) for months now. The government collaborated with various organizations in different areas to fight COVID-19, through the Interagency Task Force (IATF).

They implemented various actions such as lockdowns to halt the spread of the deadly virus. Contact tracing is important to detect and isolate coronavirus cases.

Based on a report from ABS-CBN, Baguio City is experiencing the second wave of coronavirus infection. Mayor Benjamin Magalong said the tally of COVID-19 cases went beyond the century mark in the past few days.

“We have to be very transparent, tinatamaan kami ng 2nd wave ngayon dahil ito nga lang Sunday, 15. In two days, Saturday, Sunday tinamaan kami ng 14 to 15 [kaso],” said Magalong.

According to the report, Benjamin Magalong immediately imposed measures in response to the sudden increase in cases and conducted expanded testing. He ordered the authorities to implement stricter border control. The city currently has 102 COVID-19 cases.

“Last month, mayroon kaming programa na 10 percent per sector. Naging OK po ‘yun, maganda ‘yung resulta. Inulit namin, different sector naman pero iba-ibang sub-sector naman, granular ginawa namin. Dito namin nakita talaga ‘yung 14 to 15,” he said.
