Russia Promises Vaccine In September As Moscow Races Against Western Nations
RUSSIA PROMISES VACCINE – Russia continues its race to develop a vaccine before Western countries and is set to begin production in September.
Recently, President Vladimir Putin went on a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova. They talked about two potential vaccines being developed by a research facility in Moscow and Siberia.
According to Golikova, the two vaccines are the most promising out of all that’s under development. Meanwhile, the production of the first vaccine is being tested by the Moscow-based Gamaleya institute in coordination with the defense ministry and is set for September.

Additionally, the research firm, Vektor State’s vaccine candidate should be launched around October, Golikova said. Vektor State has a laboratory close to the Siberian city of Novosibirsk.
Currently, Russia ranks third among countries most affected by the coronavirus pandemic. At the top of the list is the United States, followed by Brazil. Currently, Russia has reported over 828,990 cases of COVID-19. Of that number, more than 13,673 have succumbed to the deadly disease while the number of recoveries grew to over 620,000.
Meanwhile, as Russia boasts about the speed of their vaccine production, western countries raise concerns. According to an article from ABS-CBN, some scientists fear that researchers from Russia may have cut corners due to pressure for authorities.
However, Putin emphasized that their vaccines were being developed in a “careful and balanced way”. Furthermore, he explained that “one should be absolutely certain in a vaccine”.
Most western researchers estimate that the coronavirus vaccine would be available in early 2021 or in late 2020. Still, some researchers outside of Russia also claimed their vaccines would be ready around September or October.
