Taho Vendor Gives Free Taho to Motorists Queuing for COVID-19 Test

Taho Vendor Serves Free Taho to Motorists Lining Up for COVID-19 Test

TAHO VENDOR- A kind man gives free taho for motorists who queue to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) drive-thru testing in Manila.

Recently, the Manila City government has opened a drive-thru testing for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) to easily identify the residents who have contracted the virus without knowing. The testing is free for all the residents in Metro Manila and even from outsiders.

As a result, residents started to queue to take the COVID-19 test even before the sun comes out. Before the sun rises, there is already a long queue for drive-thru testing that was only limited per day.

Meanwhile, a 52-year-old taho vendor serves free taho for those queuing in the drive-thru despite his condition after suffering a mild stroke. Due to her condition, Gimmy Conos has only been able to sell her taho for a few hours and there is still some left.

But instead of throwing it away, Gimmy decided to just give it to the people, especially since the others had not had breakfast yet, based on the article of GMA News. He said this is the way he sees that he can also help the government even in small things.

He also added that giving a free taho is not new to him. After having a stroke, Gimmy is no longer able to lift heavy objects, especially on his left arm. It also affected his speech.

But for him, he was more concerned about buying medication for stroke than having COVID. Due to the lack of transportation caused by the pandemic, Gimmy was forced to take a taxi from Quezon City to his supplier in Manila.

Based on the report, Gimmy also lives in a jeep to avoid being locked down in his rented house in a compound.

“Lumabas ako mag-umpisa ang lockdown kasi ikukulong nila kami doon, hindi kami puwedeng lumabas. Mild stroke [patient] ako, mainit ‘yung bahay ko, wala pa ‘kong gamot na suporta kundi pagkain lang. Wala pa akong gamot, baka mamatay pa ako sa stroke ko,” he said.

Meanwhile, the second drive-through testing site is located at Andres Bonifacio Monument next to the Manila City Hall. It is open from Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
