Liza Diño no longer part of MMFF Execom?
Metro Manila Development Authority Chairman Danila Lim withdrew the Metro Manila Film Festival Execom membership of Film Development Council of the Philippines head Liza Diño.
Previously, the office of Diño sent a proposal letter to Malacanang regarding the upcoming MMFF as it reiterated that its function is to “formulate and implement policies and programs to upgrade the craft of filmmaking”.
Based on the previous report, MMDA Spokesperson Celine Pialago stressed that the MMFF belongs to MMDA although Diño said that the latter’s function “does not include any reference to films and filmmaking in general.”
In line with this, the MMDA Chairman signed this letter revoking the MMFF Executive Committee membership of Liza Diño. ABS-CBN entertainment reporter MJ Felipe shared a copy of the said letter addressed to the FDCP chief.
In the letter, MMDA pointed out the “efforts” of Diño in order to have chairmanship over the film festival. It was said that she “accused” the MMFF of being involved in controversies.
“We honestly believe that your membership in the Executive Committee is no longer tenable as your actions are inimical to MMFF and reek of conflict of interest,” the letter stated.
In the letter, the MMDA also said that it does not regret the removal of Diño from the MMFF but “rather that it has come this far”. She was also told to resign out of delicadeza.
“For this reason, we would like to inform you that we have decided to withdraw your appointment as a member of the Executive Committee,” MMDA said.
