Give Violators A Lesson – Duterte Wants Stricter Implementation

Duterte Wants To Give Violators Of Health Protocols A Lesson

GIVE VIOLATORS A LESSON – The Philippines has seen a spike in the number of COVID-19 cases in the past months.

Currently, the country has reported close to 70,000 cases of the new coronavirus. This would far surpass UP’s prediction of 60,000 cases by the end of July.

Due to the rising number of cases, areas such as Cebu City was placed under an Enhanced Community Quarantine yet again, this time, with military support. Likewise, Duterte wants a stricter implementation of health protocols in all areas of the Philippines.

In a taped speech aired on Tuesday morning, Duterte said:

We have to ask our police to be more strict. Hulihin talaga.

A little shame or put them on notice forever. Sino ba namang gusto mahuli ka? But if you are brought to the police station and detained there, that would give you a lesson for all time.

According to an article from Inquirer, Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año urged the local government to relay clear and harmonized ordinances against protocol violators nationwide.

As of Tuesday, there had been 68,898 reported COVID-19 cases in the Philippines. Of that number, 1,835 have succumbed to the deadly disease. Meanwhile, 23,072 COVID-19 patients have recovered.
