Kevin Manalo Among ABS-CBN Layoffs
KEVIN MANALO – Reporter Kevin Manalo is among the employees affected by ABS-CBN retrenchment.
The bosses of the biggest media and entertainment network in the Philippines, ABS-CBN, announced that they will be laying off workers on August 31. After 12 hearings, the House Committee on Legislative Franchise denied the media company a fresh 25-year franchise.
The Kapamilya network said laying off workers was “only way to ensure the continued employment” of the rest of its employees. The executives did not reveal how many workers will be retrenched.
In a previous article, news anchor Ces Drilon revealed that she’s among ABS-CBN affected by the retrenchment. She is considered as one of the best anchors of the tv network.
DJ Chacha announced the Kapamilya network’s FM station MOR is ceasing its operations. She lamented the imminent shutdown of her radio station of twelve years.
On Friday, July 17, ABS-CBN reporter Kevin Manalo revealed he is among ABS-CBN employees who will leave their jobs by the end of August. After 8 years of service, he’s saying goodbye to his dream job.
Manalo shared that he received a “painful” call from his boss thanking him for his service as a Kapamilya. In his lengthy FB caption, he reminisced the good old times at the tv network and thanked his colleagues.
“Today as I celebrate my 8th year in the industry, I received this painful call from my boss. 8 years whispered in 8 seconds… ‘Salamat sa service mo bilang Kapamilya.’ Thank you, too! I am forever grateful to ABSCBN for giving me this chance to fulfill my dream. Bata pa lang ako pangarap ko na maging journalist for the Kapamilya station,” he wrote.
