30 Lung Center Workers Tests Positive For Coronavirus
LUNG CENTER WORKERS – 30 employees of the Lung Center of the Philippines tested positive for the new coronavirus, COVID-19.
However, Lung Center spokesperson Dr. Norberto Francisco stated that most of the workers contracted the disease from their respective communities.
According to an article from ABS-CBN, the Norberto state:
Nasa more than 30 but I would like to clarify that noong nag-umpisa ang COVID, nine lang ang nagkasakit sa amin. That was when we did not know who really had it or not
Furthermore, he emphasized that not a single worker got sick amidst the Enhance Community Quarantine. But, the isolated cases among their personnel started to appear when the restrictions were relaxed.

Moreover, when the hospital conducted contact tracings for the infected patients, there was no evidence of infection clusters in the facility. This meant that the workers who tested positive contracted the virus through community transmissions.
As per the article, Francisco emphasized that the government should not lower quarantine restrictions until the public was disciplined enough. Along with this, he also highlighted the need for more manpower, especially with the spike in COVID-19 cases.
Currently, the Philippines has recorded over 57,545 cases of COVID-19 with over 1,603 deaths. Meanwhile, the number of recoveries have ballooned to 20,459.
The large leap in recoveries was mostly due to the Department of Health’s new reporting system. Instead of waiting for a swab test to confirm if a patient has recovered from the virus, a patient just needs to be asymptomatic for 10 days.
Afterward, he would be tagged as recovered and then released from quarantine. But, this posed a problem as the DOH had also recently acknowledged that asymptomatic patients may still spread the disease.
